WMS Order Picking

Automated picking of goods to fulfill orders makes warehouse operations more efficient and reduces the number of mistakes made. As items are picked, they are verified as to quantity, location and the validity of item number making picking errors a thing of the past.

Orders can be entered into the Dexterity WMS system via an EDI interface, SAP IDOCS or simply imported from another host system using the Import/Export features of Dexterity or entered manually. The Picking function validates picking of items against a sales/pick order. Dexterity WMS application software allows the user to enter details of new Picking Orders including:

• Order Number
• Order Date
• Customer Details
• Product Lines and Quantities
• Allocate to Picking Wave/Picker/Carrier

The order pickers using the RF terminals are guided through the picking process by location and are provided with instructions on the terminal as to the SKU and quantity to be picked. Validation is the key to minimising picking errors and accurate inventory. Each step of the pick is validated by scanning a barcode for location and SKU.

Shipping & Despatch

After the orders have been picked they are ready for shipping. Dexterity WMS supports many pick/ship process combinations:

• Pick and Immediate Shipping
• Ship after Staging to Despatch
• Create Despatch Loads

Dexterity WMS can automate the printing of shipping and pallet labels and Advise/Despatch Notes and Manifests. Dexterity WMS can be fully integrated with other systems to provide shipment details for customers via EDI links.
